  1. Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope or confidence.

  2. One of the best safeguards of our hopes, I have suggested, is to be able to mark off the areas of hopelessness and to acknowledge them, to face them directly, not with despair but with the creative intent of keeping them from polluting all the areas of possibility.

  3. what are the areas of hopelessness that pollute all areas of possibility so we can face them? is it the stratification of society that breeds that same emotion? is it in the root of our free market system, profit? what is promoting the total preoccupation of fear of others? is this new enemy so large so unique that we can only face it with constant war and shattering of ideologies; petrification of "values"? has everyone forgotten that the enemy also is us? that, then logically,we are the homeless. we are the hungry. we are the ones drinking polluted water. what will change the consciousness? surely there are many organizations that have been attempting to provide basic necessities to third world countries, and thousands of community based folk who are feeding and providing for the growing homeless population. what simple thing is underneath the lack of united success with these efforts? if we need simplicity to penetrate the darkness, do we not need simplicity to identify what is blocking the sun? since the creators fine thread connects us all, how can we pluck it and make it resonate so it creates a new song? or is it all just a spinning that weaves failure with success and death with rebirth and so progresses as long as spirit keeps the red thread of hope vibrating? everyone and everything is hopeful by nature, not constantly, but intermittently. everything points toward life renewing not death encompassing. why are we afraid?
i do not know the answers to these questions. i can only observe what little i can actually see. i know i do not feel dread, but i have seen the promotion of it since 9/11 as a spreading cancer. it has seemed to be proactive in promoting agendas that now need a balance of a new day.
    mercy mercy me.

i notice that the picture on the home page shows people just casually walking and driving by an accident, but the optimist in me says it's art,and it isn't real. if that is true, then maybe it shows how we all walk around the mess hoping it isn't real? or pretending not to see it, or not noticing it because we see it all the time, or maybe it isn't real. i mean if it's just a work of art, it's really just a reflection of something else, i guess it was suppose to be funny. it does speak to me about making plans and stuff happening in spite of them ... that's real:)

  5. Mercy mercy me is right!
If Love was the Law, we would need no other...
    unfortunately, Money is the Law
so, if you're wondering what is blocking the sun and corrupting our values and causing separation, where really there is none.... money is at the root of the fear, dread, and corruption. Maybe the answer is as simple as...Love
and in that case... mercy, mercy me!
